Functional, friendly and design kitchen Mobalpa

"We wanted our kitchen to be functional, welcoming and stylish"

In their new apartment, the customers wanted to streamline circulation. How? By breaking down partitions. They achieved their dream of having an open-plan kitchen with a corner bar, opening out onto the living room. They wanted to go for a cosy and functional design.

The challenge was to align the fridge, dishwasher, oven, sink and washing machine along a single wall.

Everything was enhanced using white I-quartz worktops. This purity was emphasised thanks to the contrast between the black wall colour and the white fronts with integrated stainless steel handles.

The designer’s idea?

Fit the washing machine under the worktop. Not to mention the wine cellar that adds a designer touch to this sober kitchen. She also thought of adding overhead storage, with integrated spotlights, for greater visual comfort.

The couple also wanted a space to prepare their meals and be able to enjoy a glass of wine while planning their future holidays.

It was therefore only natural that an island with an elevated snack bar would fit perfectly into the space. A very discreet white hob unit blends into the worktop. Multiple storage solutions were also made on request.

It seemed obvious to remove non-load bearing walls. The kitchen, hallway and living room were therefore opened out to let in the light and extend the space.

What happened next? We made the most of the new large space to design the best layout - while also promoting good circulation.

A kitchen with central island and bar

The desires of the customers

Living in the mountains, nature and wide open spaces are part of their daily life. A feeling of freedom that they would like to find in their apartment, which is too closed off for their taste.
From the very first exchanges, the customers express their desire to have more than a kitchen. They both dream of a living room with a convivial corner and a bar. A practical kitchen, with a fluid circulation; freedom and functionality, the equation was set.

The opinion of the kitchen designer

For the designer, it seemed obvious to propose to the couple to remove the non-load-bearing walls between the kitchen, the corridor and the living room. This was an essential first step to let in light and enlarge the space. What next? Take advantage of the new volumes to imagine the best layout, while favoring circulation.

The ingenuity lay in arranging - on the same wall - the fridge, dishwasher, oven, sink, washing machine... without forgetting the wine cellar, a must for aperitifs with friends. The centerpiece of the project? The white I-quartz worktop, in harmony with the matte varnished kashmir fronts. A purity emphasized by the contrast of the black wall color and the choice of integrated stainless steel handles.

The designer's idea?

Recess the dishwasher under the oven and create high storage with integrated spotlights for more visual comfort. The last touch, very personal, is signed the customers. A black and white fresco, based on one of their travel photos, to create a unique atmosphere and delimit the dining area.
The conviviality of a kitchen with island and bar

Another wish of the customers: to have enough space to prepare their meals. And if possible, to create a place dedicated to exchange and sharing.
It is thus quite naturally opposite the dining room and the living room, that a central island found its place. An island with a white cooktop, blending with the worktop (also in I-quartz white marble), and offering numerous custom-made storage spaces.
Sliding drawers with integrated handles on one side, and opening doors without handles on the other. But this central island with bar would not have been perfect without the practicality and natural touch of its raised, raw wood snack table.
Ideal to enjoy a glass of wine and talk about future trips, so dear to the customers.
